Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a family of stand-up combat sports built around punches and kicks. The exact rules vary by organization: some formats permit knees, limited clinching or catches, while others emphasize boxing combinations, movement and kicks delivered above the waist. KickboxHub connects those rules to real fighters, results, rankings, promotions and documented fight records.

Rules, styles and competition explained

There is no single universal kickboxing ruleset. Use these guides to understand what changes between organizations and how those differences affect tactics, scoring, records and rankings.

Modern ring kickboxing is related to boxing and Muay Thai, but it should not be treated as a synonym for either. Boxing permits punches only. Muay Thai generally gives a larger role to elbows, knees, clinch work and off-balancing. Kickboxing rules vary: K-1-style contests, full-contact kickboxing and promotion-specific formats can all define legal targets and judging differently. When a result or record looks inconsistent, check the event's ruleset and the scope used by the record source before drawing a conclusion.

Records need context

Kickboxing records can disagree because sources include different amateur bouts, exhibitions, rulesets or historical events. KickboxHub connects fighters to event-level results and publishes how its rankings and records are handled. Treat the database as a traceable research tool: open the fighter, inspect the bout history, follow the event and promotion relationships, and consult the methodology when comparing totals or rankings.
